Alcedo atthis – Martin-Pêcher
This is a tiny bird with a long beak and extremely briliant plumage. The underside is chestnut brown, and the top is a briliantly shiny blue-green. The head and beak are large compared to the body, and the wings are short and stubby.
Around water, of course. This is a real fisherman, often sitting on branches beside streams, although it sometimes hovers while searching for fish.
