Perdix perdix – Perdrix Grise
This is the most common partridge in Europe, and is found throughout the Beyond region. The coloring is quite different from the rock partridge, with an orange face and throat, grey breast and brown back. Juveniles tend to be a mottled brown, with a lighter tan underside.
Prefers open farmland, fields and sand dunes.
Alectoris graeca – Perdrix Bartavelle
The rock partridge, with its distinctive white throat, black neck band and solid grey back and breast is found in the mountainous areas Beyond, especially the southern and central Alps and into Italy.
